A Cleveland-area principal says he’s embarrassed his students got proof of their “educaiton” on their high school diplomas.
Westlake High School officials misspelled “education” on the diplomas distributed last weekend. It’s been the subject of mockery on local radio.
That’s nothing…last week, our 8 year old daughter received a trophy for making the Principal’s Homor Roll.
It isn’t that they’re stupid, it’s that they don’t care.

Heh, when I was in high school we ordered glassware for our high school prom, and it came back with the prom name misspelled. And it was the company’s fault, I was student council (we had to deal with prom, it was a small school, no prom committee) and was there when our faculty adviser placed the order, he literally spelled out the entire phrase and they still managed to eff it up.
The company rushed a new batch to us that made it the day of the prom. They didn’t take back the botched ones either, so I and my class kept ‘em, and I still use one…why not, no sense wasting.

When I reported for pilot training at Moody AFB, GA, in 1970, the local Chamber of Commerce had a wonderful program where all the new students and spouses were invited to a local country club for dinner. They gave us a souvenir glass etched with Air Force pilot wings, and the caption “Red Carpet Commitee.” It has a place of honor in my living room, but it does get a chuckle from time to time.

One of things that I absolutely hate are chat-room shortcuts. My 8th grade daughter asked me to proofread a paper she had written for her science class. It was full of those shortened words and phrases. I circled every one of them. She corrected the majority of them and turned it in. Sadly, the teacher did not deduct any points for the remaining shortcuts. It was depressing.
